This is the start of a (slow) build into a offroad capable teardrop style trailer. The hardest part was finding a decent trailer, with a title, that did not cause a nosebleed hearing the price. Everyone seems to think that a used trailer should cost as much or more than a new one at any of the big box hardware stores.
So I picked up this: It's a motorcycle trailer that was built locally by a company that specializes in boat trailers. It's in excellent shape with minimal rust and the perfect size to build into a teardrop style.
It's going to be a partial popup and out as the main determiner of it's going down the road size is that is has to fit under my back deck when not in use. That gives me 5'6" of room. I can probably get it to 6' if I do a bit of digging and lay down a small "driveway" for it to sit in.
Overall not bad for $300. Yes, I could have spent more and gotten a brand new trailer from home despot or too lowes, but I would have to take parts of it apart to build what I want to do. So the price was right
cool sounding project. I'm in to watch.
I don't think you could have done better with a new trailer. HF trailers are not as good quality and HD and Lowes would have been costly, only to start ripping into them. That has great "bones" to build on. Good luck!

I built my micro-camper on a PWC trailer that looked a whole lot like this.
There's a build thread, but it was a few years ago. It's in the build thread forum somewhere, if you want to dig it out.

I'm in to watch, always thought one of these would be a fun project.

Thanks for saving me the trouble!

this is the inspiration for what I intend to be doing. Obviously cheaper with less bells, whistles, and the like, but hopefully looking similar to and with capabilities that are close.
It is the Conqueror UEV-440 Extreme. Clocks in at "Well equipped" for $38,950.

Once I get some drawings together that I like. I will post them up.
Perfect trailer for one of these.
