So I just changed my the belts in the Datsun and I am getting ready to throw out my old belts.

SFI belts are now only good for 2 years but I am still going to pitch them........cuz liability.

I am curious what other people do with them.

It would be fair game to sell them used noting that they're expired. Someone could try to sue you even though they were sold as-is, but they could do the same on just about anything you sell that they could find a way to hurt themselves on. The belts could still be useful for somebody's homebuilt car that doesn't need to pass race scrutineering (at first) or as DIY'd suspension limiting straps.

In reply to GameboyRMH :

I'd give them to some for another purpose such as that.

Agreed: gift them to someone with a street rod, Locost, etc with full disclosure and CYA. Or use them for lashing down heavy loads in the back of the car. Or garage art. Or get them re-webbed. smiley

I took several old sets to a local auto-x and gave them away. The street guys like the look in their cars and it holds you in the seat much better than stock 3-point belts.

I like that idea.  Lately the word Liability makes my butt pucker.

They are my passenger belts. Plus the sfi spec is outdated but required.
