As someone who would love to see all longhood cars restored and driven, I wouldn't touch that car with a ten foot pole...
That said, whoever buys it should get their parts from me...
A mouse has moved into one of our work trucks. I can't get the guy's to throw there trash out every night and the little guy is living large. I opened the glove box yesterday and found a hoard of onion rings, fries, doritos, taco bell and burger king wrappers. I figure since they keep feeding it hopefully it won't start eating wires.
As to the car, I'm pretty sure Woody posted one that was sitting outside halfway sunk in the ground with no motor or trans and the guy was asking for more.

If there's a 911 for sale somewhere, chances are that I know about it...
Fyi, my brother has the "berkeleying immaculate" version of the car in the OP for sale for the paltry sum of $22k if anyone's interested!

A longhood 911 for sub 30K? I might know someone who is interested, send me details.

Occasionally I'll find an SC below 10k. If I see anything I'll let you know.

Sounds like a bargain, to me. Especially when you compare what is going to have to go into the one in the OP to get it anywhere close to "berkeleying immaculate".
Wow, that seems like one extra zero on his asking price. I know it's a vintage Porsche, rare, etc., but are people really willing to pay 5-grand for a hunk of E36 M3 like that???

Exactly. Things have gotten way out of hand with some of these older cars. You are essentially buying a VIN as everything else will need to be replaced. Same thing with the older muscle cars, particularly the big block and Hemi cars, you buy the VIN then replace everything. It's ridiculous.
What a strange combination of sanity in the description which departs our subject when he gets to pricing...

I could probably squeeze eight grand worth of parts out of that car, but it would take a lot of work and several tetanus shots.
My favorite era of 911 to drive, and probably the only one I would pay decent money to own...
This particular example??? Hell's berkeleying no!!!!
I will take the primrose yellow 356, thank you very much!!!

Granted, it's not as desirable as some, but my boss has been trying to sell a solid 402-engined Monte Carlo for quite a while now with nothing but tire kickers and genuine lowballers. "You're asking $14k, will you take $5000?"
Fortunately, he's keeping it and it's getting a 496.
