I'm not a big fan of the Miata, I'm too tall, but I know how you guys feel about it. I do like the new looks compared to the old one, much swoopier in person than in pictures. It was the dark red, which I think is pretty sharp. Is that a metallic?

Going from memory (saw at SEMA last year, it was the race car), I think it is. They're growing on me, but there's something about the front half of the car that just seems off to me.
Picked up parts from the Mazda dealer a couple days ago, they've had two on the lot, both gone within hours.
I have yet to see one in the wild.
Saw one at the dealership the other day. It was a nice day and the top was open, so I actually got to sit in it. Waaaaaaaay more comfortable and classy interior than my NA.
Oh and, don't be a hater etifosi. 
I saw a white one at the post office. The want was strong.
Got to sit in and inspect one at the local Mazda dealer while picking up the wife's 3 after some recall work. Huge difference in interior space vs. my NB. I mostly like the front end, rear end is growing on me. The one they had was a fully loaded grand touring with soul red paint, automatic, etc. etc. so like $32K for a Miata. 
Same dealer has a black sport (base model) 6spd on the way in. Fighting the urge to go test drive it....
Soul red is metallic, yes. It's an interesting colour inasmuch as it'll appear fairly bright in direct sunlight and much darker as the sun sets (or when you pull into the garage).
A Soul Red ND just pulled into the lot here. Yup, sure is pretty in full sun.
I could go into my discussion of relative costs and this thing called inflation, but let's just say that $32k for a Miata is no different than we've been seeing for years.

I'm just the opposite. It's the rear that leaves me wondering.
I saw two at the Mazda dealer yesterday. A white and soul red. I own a 94 so I've been following the ND saga for a while. The pictures never "moved" me but everyone said you have to see it in person. Still not "moved".
A sales guy was heading to the soul red with dealer plate and a 40's ish woman in tow.
Maybe I'm weird but I've always thought a slick (no body cladding) NB is the pinnacle of Miata styling.
Oh, still haven't seen one "in the wild". I should have waited to watch the test drive.

This. I'm totally sold on the front. Then I saw the back in person and grimmaced a little.
