Standing restarts in F1 !!

Apparently, the FIA is considering using standing restarts after every yellow in Formula 1, starting next year. That ought to lead to some serious carnage and reduce the number of cars finishing races.Montreal and Monaco would be interesting to see.

I like it, but they should reverse the order too and make the fast cars fight their way back to the front each time.

They should just leave the damn rules alone every once in awhile.....

To be fair, standing re-starts will only occur after safety car periods.

It's still a gimmick and even the people who thought of it can't deny it.

Then, if I was in the back, I'd make sure to cause a yellow close to the end of the race so I stand I better chance of finishing on the podium!!

Yeah, it's gimmicky, but they have to figure out how to get the cars closer and have racing rather than parade laps or dominating teams. :(

I have heard that F1 does a lot of gimmicky E36 M3 because of politics/marketing.

Want to spice up those boring middle parts of the races?

20 laps clockwise, followed by 20 laps counterclockwise. Drivers are only allowed to change direction once they complete the requisite number of laps. That'll create some motivation to not get lapped.

Or, down-and-back races. That's a thing now, right?

They had demolition derbies when I was a kid where you did that but it was each lap and instead of turning around you ran every other lap in reverse.
