I recently installed a catch can on the new car, because (non-turbo) GDI paranoia. All the reviews said the hoses that came with the kit stunk to heck, and to get some fuel/pcv hose to replace it before install. They stunk out of the box, so I tossed em. Then I got some good ol' made in the u s of a 3/8" 'Fuel/PCV' hose, and did it up right. Or so I thought.
Now here it is, 2 weeks later, and I start smelling gas fumes in the new car. Oh berk no. Finally get it home after a nervous day of driving and (thankfully) its clearly the hose reeking. I can touch the outside, even uphill from the engine, and come away with a hard to remove greasy stink.
I even looked at a different kit, and reviews say they begin to stink too!
Question is, what do I use here? Am I missing some critical component of spec'ing hoses? My first instinct is to go silicone, but i read they are not fully oil/fuel safe, even though many kits come with them. The catch can specifically deals with the lightest, and most volatile vaporized oil and fuel, at least in theory. Is there a brand that makes hoses that won't stink after a while? The oem seemed to work, but is not physically long enough for my can placement. Any and all guidance, and or similar lamentation is welcome.
Go to a hydraulic repair shop and see if they have anything with a similar ID. Hydraulic hose is pretty much indestructable.
Take the system off, and you will be all set. NA cars have better PVC systems, and not all DI cars have intake deposit problems.
Good suggestions on the J30R7, and Hydro hoses as a backup. Will give those a shot.
Also thanks for confirming my silly-cone suspicions.

I am not a huge fan of cans, but I have seen more buildup already in this engine than I like. Make no mistake, going back stock is my fallback, along with a CRC valve cleaning in-a-can every 25k.
