So I was reading about Ford testing the new Boss 302S edition and noticed their secret weapon behind the rear wheel. The engineers must've realized that these things add like 15 HPs each.

I just priced out a new '12 Boss 302 Laguna Seca... Holy crap. $48k and a curb weight of 3650.
Price aside - I wonder how much weight you can take out of one of those without a sawzall. It already has nice light Recaros and a back seat delete. I figure it to depreciate like an anvil falls on Jupiter so... I'm going ot seriously want one of these in 3-4yrs for $15k... I'm going to want it to be 2900lbs too. Somehow I think the 2nd part will be the hardest.

I'll betcha less than 10% of those will ever see a track in anger. They will be snapped up by "collectors" and they will be sold to other "collectors", and guys like us that would scrape all the sound deadening off and cut extra heavy crap off will never see one.
Better idea is to build one. Insurance salvage here has a 11 Mustang, 5.0 6 speed with 1200 km on it. Not a straight body panel to be seen, minimum bid $3k. Closes Wednesday morning, and I'm trying real hard not to make a bid.
In reply to Streetwiseguy:
I agree, if you find one for $15K ever it will be because it was rolled after it was stolen and you saw it on "COPS" and it made it to auction.
I hate that Ford finally has the huevos to start building this stuff and all of it is going to be put in garages by douche bags that think high performance driving is 80 mph on I-10 in their Boxster.
We saw that at PRI and were seriously flattered. Like totally floored. That was not a deal we put together, it turns out they're just superfans and wanted to show some love. That gives me a good feeling that at least the guys who are building it know what it's for.
Hopefully they all don't end up under car covers in garages somewhere. I know several are already entered in the World Challenge race in St. Pete next week, so maybe that's a sign of hope.
