The self locking doors on my MINI. To get out you have to pull the door lever twice, once to unlock the door and the second pull actually opens it. Dumb.
That's normal on a whole lot of cars anymore. Especially German ones.
Most 2 doors have that. My 87 Escort did.
That is dumb. If the door is locked it shouldn't open no matter how many times you pull the lever.

Doesn't ruin it, but annoying as hell, Toyota 4-runner, if you unlock with key fob you have 30 seconds to open s door or it re locks itself.
This is likely a preference setting that can be deactivated Toyota calls these settings "c-best", search you might be able to do it in your driveway for free (up up down down left right left right.....most Toyota settings are hackable including programming keys and remotes) , if not dealer can do it for .5hrs labor. Look up the c-best list for your vehicle there are likely a ton of settings that can be adjusted at that time.
Being lazy and not reading all the comments, I assume just from the title of this post that someone has mentioned touch screens and especially start/stop buttons...

I really like Ford's method of unlocking the door with the inside handle. It's sort of the exact opposite of GM's annoying auto-locking doors when the car goes over 5mph. I know Ford does it too, but at least the doors auto-unlock when you try to open them.
I also like GM's smart fob where if the car is locked but the fob is in your pocket, pulling the door handle once will unlock the door, then pulling it a second time opens it. Or maybe it automatically unlocks it the first time, I forget. But it's nice.
Speaking of things you can do from outside the car: VW/Audi USED to have a thing that you could do where if you put the key in the driver's door lock and held it to the lock position it would lock all of the doors and close all of the windows, and conversely it would open everything if you held in the unlock position. At some point they stopped doing that. I liked the ability to close the whole car up from the outside.
Just about any feature designed after 1995. If it's electronic, automatic, or for the safety of the children and idiots, I'll pass.

What about OBDII? That's a pretty nice post-95 electronic thingy.

That is kinda nice.
If you turn the key quickly twice in a Saturn, all the doors unlock. I don't think it works the other way though. Not sure I've ever tried.

Early 05 mustangs did the same trick as the older v dubs, but it also did it from the fob, IIRC.
Seems like a good thread to have solutions to the hated features posted on too.

How about BMW's motorized doohicky that hands you your seatbelt?
I find autoclimate control to be a waste. Especially when you need to take your eyes off of the road to adjust even the smallest thing
This thread is a whole bunch of expensive solutions to problems that didn't need solving.

My 2, side mirrors that point down when you put it in reverse,
O.M.G. Thank you for reminding me of that. If I do bite the E46 M3 bullet, I'm going to find a way of disabling that nonsense.
BMWs are the absolute worst. They point the mirrors down to where you are looking at the ground under the B-pillar. I was told that the theory is that you can see how close you are to the curb. Over here in the real world, I couldn't give a crap about the curb, I want to know if I'm going to back into another car or something.
It does give you an excuse for putting your head into the passenger's crotch while parking, so it's a nice feature to have if you're going on a date.
If I ever get into a Brewster's Millions situation, one of the things I will do is test drive a new BMW and then take out something really expensive while parking. Just cream that M5 than I'm testing into the side of an X6M or some other douchemobile. "Well, the car moved the mirror to where I couldn't see it, so I figured that BMW doesn't care if you wreck E36 M3."
I think if you move the switch for the mirror control from R to L or middle position it will turn off this feature. If you leave it in the R position, the right mirror turns down. Should be in the owners manual.
Cars that don't have a partition to keep my driver from talking to me.
And why would he need a roof?

^^^ my normal cut off is 93 but pretty much this. I also cant stand drive by wire, electronic power steering or the spare location on some vehicles!
The Focus doesn't have a key hole in the passenger door. The PO installed a stupid aftermarket alarm, so I disarmed the alarm and never use the fob. If I want to unlock the passenger door, I have to unlock the driver's side door and unlock the passenger door from inside.
TL, DNR but I want to make sure this one gets included. It's now a dinosaur but the upshift light on my Focus is a distraction from hell. It illuminates nearly any time you apply pressure to the accelerator. There is obviously a disconnect here between the dash engineers and the drivetrain department because you WANT to rev the snot out of a Zetec! That's why you didn't buy the craptastic CVH engine! I want to poke it with a screwdriver. Daily. Many times.

Traction control
Ugh, the Toyota Tundra I until recently owned had the WORST traction control system I've ever had the displeasure of using. ANY wheelspin and it cuts the throttle entirely for 2-3 seconds, which is just fantastic when you are trying to cross an intersection when it's snowy or icy.
That's what my ford transit work van does, it's horrible. I also can't stand center exhaust, like on the focus st, it just irks me. Also the center crease on the back of the mazda 3 sedan that runs right down the middle.
center exhausts give cars buttholes.

Our 2005 Accord has that feature, and thanks to our 2003 Audi, I wouldn't have though of it. However, not having a lock on the passenger side sucks. My fob battery died and I look like a douche letting myself in before my wife.
One kind of cool thing, our MPV will lock and unlock all of the doors with the passenger side lock but the driver's lock only locks/unlocks that door.

I had a Fusion Titanium as a rental last week. Besides the car feeling very large and heavy it drove/rode ok, it looked pretty good inside and outside. Besides never finding a truly comfortable setting for the infinitely adjustable leather power seat, my only true complain about that car is with the infotainment system. What a nightmare. It was the least intuitive car I've ever driven. With a rental, you hop in, adjust the seat, adjust the mirrors, (for rentals in Minneapolis in winter) adjust the climate control system, tune the radio to the station I always listen to and plug in my phone to charge. In most cars these are easy tasks. In the Fusion it was completely auful. You can adjust the stereo or the climate controls, but not both without navigating to a different screen. There is a knob and some pseudo buttons below the touch screen, but you can also use the touch screen for the same things. I counted 45 different switch positions that I could reach without taking my hands off the wheel. Truly abhorrent experience. I hope that the lower trim levels are normal cars and I feel bad for anyone who bought the titanium version if this is what they have to put up with.
Two tiny 1"x1/2" buttons to beep the horn in my '95 F150.
I want to slam the center of the wheel when I'm pissed, not say "hold on a second shiny happy person while I frantically search for my tiny horn buttons!".
Push button door handles with no mechanical link to the actual latch, like on a c6 corvette. Battery dies and you can't get into the car.

I have a Tacoma that does this. It's very annoying and I haven't been able to disable it.
I believe you can disable that "feature" via techstream.

You can, but yes its annoying.
