I've been looking around for a new (to me) car. Want something comfortable for long rides, but with enough power to be fun. Been looking at the 2014 BMW 550i, and the same age Audi A6 3.0t.
With a tune, both are pretty similar power-wise. Prices are comparable. I know general wisdom has been not to buy a turbo BMW out of warranty, but you guys seem to have a better handle on actual issues and how to fix them than the general public.
Do any of you have any idea of the long-term reliability or issues for either of these cars? Things to watch out for when shopping for them? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Before I bought my M5, I was looking at F10's and I would have to say stay away from the 550. I found nothing but horror stories about those things.
I get that the power is appealing, but the 535 has the N55 which is plenty healthy and can be tuned to make some serious power. If you are just looking for a long distance cruiser I'd recommend looking into the 535d or the A6 TDI. Plenty of power for cruising and you'll get seriously good mileage.

Thanks for the advice. Has anyone else owned either/ both?
The 3 liter supercharged motor in the Audi is a real treat. Very reliable, gets shockingly good gas mileage and a tune unleashes a ton of power.
