It seems like any car sold in the US with sporting pretenses has to have a sunroof, at least in the trim levels that are most desirable. Every Civic Si, 3-series, SE-R, Prelude, etc comes with a sunroof as standard equipment.
The Si badge attached to any us market civic stands for "Sunroof included"
the one in my ti is getting a bit creaky.. sometimes I have to help it along when opening.. but it still seals tight and like above.. it is VERY quiet when open.
I will say this.. I had the whole cartridge out once when redoing the headliner.. taking it for a ride with JUST a hole in the roof it was excrutiatingly loud and boomy
How does the Porsche 944 sunroof sound? they too open up over the top of the roof
I also hate sunroofs; I'm tall and they cut into headroom. I've got a BMW 3 series with no sunroof, but it's a convertible.
Another somewhat sporty (if rather underpowered compared to an ITR) choice might be a Focus ZX3. I had a fixed roof one of those.
I got my econobox without the sunroof option because racecar, but now I sort of wish I did get it.
for non enthusiast DD cars i love em... namely my volvos... popped up for day time driving (keeps the sun from baking you) and during the night slide it back... the glass sunroof in the nissan we had before sucked... you couldn't pop it up with the sunshade forward and have it do anything for air flow... if the sunshade is back the sun just cooks ya... :-/
in the volvo I think the worst part is that it kills rear seat head room (front seats are lower so i'm ok (no helmet so no worries)
in my parts car volvo i'm amazed at how big the entire sunroof structure is.
I hate sunroofs. Its just one more thing to leak, rust, or break. I also hate convertibles.
Can't stand sunroofs, for all the reasons PseudoSport listed. They take up too much space, they break, etc. I also never use them.

Looks like the SVT might even be an option! I do love me some SVT Focus...

Now see, I didn't know that.
Count me among the sunroof haters. The bite they take out of headroom in most cars makes it a deal-killer.

As much as I like sunroofs in general, the sunroof in my Focus was totally useless. It opened so far back that I didn't even know it was open. Useless.
They're neat at first....but I don't miss them on 100 degree days. For DD it doesnt do anything for me either way. For a sports car, I do not want. Unfortunately, all sports cars from the late 80s up seem to have them. It wouldn't be a deal breaker if an exceptional example came along, or if I was looking at otherwise rare cars. If you're shopping Civics, I would wait another 3 days until the next candidate popped up on CL.

I love sunroofs, generally, and only had one ever leak, and that's the horrible a/m unit some goober installed CROOKED in my wifes former (and now my after a repurchase last fall) Chevy Prizm. I took a thing of kitchen caulk and some aluminum tape to that pig... works like a charm.
The only sunroof I have had on a car that I liked was the 84 Merc wagon. It was solid metal, manual sliding, and massive when open.
I hate the rear spoiler on my WRX, but it was the only way I could get one with a sunroof.
I had a 2004 WRX with a sunroof. It was the most miserable excuse for a tiny hole in the roof ever. Too small to be worth it.
My base model and R1/R2 3rd gen. RX-7s did not have sunroofs. I'm so happy mine does not have one.

I don't mind sunroofs, but man Moonroofs really burn me up
In truth I almost always forget it is there as long as there is a shade.
For a few of you:
Sunroof: metal.
Moonroof: glass.
Now, with that out of the way, I liked the sunroof in my RX-7. I can see how a moonroof could get old.

Weird I always thought it was the other way around.
I generally love sunroofs, as I'm not a tall guy ( 5'8") and the headroom thing isn't usually an issue. Besides, I loathe A/C. I hardly ever use it, even in FLA. I'm a wind in the hair type, and I can re-direct fresh air directly into my face with my hand----very nice. I'll take the tiny weight disadvantage anytime over using A/C and taxing the motor. (less power / worse MPG)
My E36 sunroof opens every time I get into the car. Well, unless it is raining. It never leaks, has never stuck, or hurt the car in any way. Sure if I was competing for a national Auto-x title, the weight up top may hurt, but it is mostly a street car, so I'll take my big hole in the roof thank you very much. I also have never noticed any structural rigidity problems with sunroofs. Targas--yes, convertibles--yes, T-tops---hell yes!
It also depends on the sunroof. Honda sunroofs are usually so small they are worthless. The ginormus Mini sunroof may be the worst. The noise they generate while open is horrendous.
I do dig the hole in my E36 roof though......

The absolute worst moonroof (going by osterkrauts definition) was the Buick Roadmasters... Why have a huge piece of glass up there to make a greenhouse effect? Hottest cars ever produced in the 90's with air conditioning.
