Tacoma replacement frames - do they rust?

I'm considering buying a '01 tacoma (frame was replaced in 2012-2013)...

Are the replacement frames the same metallurgy as the original ones, I'd guess yes as a result of '05+'s becoming rust buckets?

Good question. I bought a 2004 from a couple that moved here from Texas and it was very clean. I coated my frame inside and out with Fluid Film in the fall. I'm thinking of selling it due to getting stuck with it if it does rust out. I also heard the replacement ended in Dec 2012. I think they are the same, but I'm not for sure.
