Got skunked on another exotic car inspection, that makes 5 bad cars out of the last 6 that I looked at. Basically I cannot find a R8 V10 that has been driven properly in a manual or a F430 F1 car with a good clutch and correct service history for what I want to pay.
Getting kind of pissed at this point. Local Pcar dealer who knows me calls out of the blue with a 100% bone stock 2007 997.1 Turbo that was optioned up beyond anything I have ever seen. Can has more carbon fiber and leather then a new Ferrari. Plus its a 6 speed manual. Can get the car sub 70K which means that it is 40-50K less then I would be into a R8 or a clean F430 spider. Plus no maintenance.
The 911 stock would be faster then both of them, cheaper to run by a factor of 5-6x, will be better on road trips and if I drop it off at EVOMS will have a solid 500hp to the rear wheels after I put the GT2 wing on it and remove the front wheel drive portion of the ar and put some slightly larger inter-coolers and turbos.
Its a boring color though. Tell me that I should stick to my guns. I know it will not depreciate at all, and its not a full fat supercar. But my gut says to buy it and use it as a DD.
Only other thing that I have seen that I really like is the TA viper and there is a white one up north at about 90K all in.

I have no gut it seems. If it was a more exciting color I would have bought it already.
it's a lot easier to fly under the radar with a non fancy color, but with your budget i gather a few speeding tickets isn't much of a concern.

Get the porsche - I'd skip the wing though - unless it actually is a gt2 (not being a purist - just looks like you're trying too hard ). If you don't dig the color, have it wrapped every other month.
Tough call. Both will eventually be worth more than what you pay for them, but I think the Porsche will be worth a LOT more sooner than the Viper. The Dodge will cost less to maintain, and your boner will get a boner every time you drive it, but the Porsche sounds like a better deal with more upside.
Do it!!!!
I like the color but I understand wanting a more vibrant color for a vibrant car, but the dudes here already stated your best option, wrap in in any color you want.
1: Buy Porsche. 2: Wrap in new color when ever you want a change.* 3: Profit!
*I actually like the color, so I am biased and would drive it as is.

German cars always seem to look good in silver, although I agree it's not my favorite color. I like it better than white. A white Viper just seems... wrong.
you are a lucky guy to make these choices..
I'll have me a 997 soon. Just Gotta save for another 10yrs

Do it! These will be worth more in the near term and are pure awesome.
Don't ever do this on making money on the other side. I'd go with the Porsche for reliability. It's almost as good as a Japanese sedan. Outside of alternators and rear tires, my 996 has been easy to own. Although I drive the crap out of it, use ut in all sorts of weather and use redline oil every 5k.

Oh gawwwwd, dooooo it! One of my favourite cars, ever. Drove a nearly identical one 1,000 kms, through a blizzard and over the Laurentian mountains a few years ago. Fell madly, deeply in love.
That colour photographs really well in the right light.
Oh I'm sorry mr-paint-color-is-going-to-keep-me-from-the-perfect-car-that-I-wanted-and-for-some-reason-think-getting-the-car-wrapped-or-dipped-is-beneath-me.
WTF are you doing? Go get the damn thing.

I hope Ralph Gilles never hears me say this... but the Viper doesn't hold a candle to that Porsche
I'll dissent and say get the white TA Viper, then vinyl it up like the Oreca racers.

This^^^^Do not pass go, do not collect $200...............just buy it!!
No, I picked this and love every minute, I have added the Evoms programming, cold air intake, and suspension, it was professionally corner weighted and springs chosen for aggressive street and occasional track use. I also added a Light weight flywheel and puck clutch plus an exhaust system. This car rocks my world.
P-Car + vinyl wrap equals as exciting a color(s) as you want. Plus it's 40k in your pocket and it's probably pound for pound a better car.
I get your reservations over P-cars, given how common they are in the area, but that is a perfect example. Porsche is the only automaker that can consistently pull off a silver car. I see the Turbos among the boldest and heaviest "looking" 911s, and I think that the silver helps tone down some of the design cues (spoiler, skirts, wheels, etc.).
Given the options, that was probably a near $200k car when new.
For what it's worth, I ended up buying my 911 in my first color choice, however I would be just as happy with it in any color.
If it were me, I'd rather quit pfaffing about with poorly maintained and driven exotics so I could drive the piss out of a 911 turbo.
don't ever think that a 911 turbo is not an exotic.. it is just an "everyman's" exotic. It's also the only exotic you can drive everyday without any issues. buy it, use it, and grin like a madman every time you take it for a drive.
My 911 was orange.. that slightly weird, early 70s orange. I liked that colour
