Okay, dyno run videos are never that exciting. But it's still pretty wild to see a 20-year-old Miata spin the rollers at 466 hp.

466 hp. 432 ft-lbs. And less than 2400 lbs.
300 ft-lbs at 1700 rpm. 400 ft-lbs or more between 2900 and 6100. Yeee hah.
Lawdy Miz Clawdy! Let's see, that's the same weight as my MR2 . . .Yipe! What's the old phrase, "Too much is just about right?"
Can we expect two black stripes all the way around GJMS this season?

Any chance for a return to the Targa?
Honestly, that's pretty unlikely. It's such a major effort to get to the race that I probably won't have the chance. I'd love to but I'm not sure how I could put it together and get spousal approval. I tend to get fairly, umm, focused. All that prep time plus the expense is a factor as well.
In reply to Keith Tanner:
I can't even begin to imagine the expenses associated with running a race like that. Had a Miata buddy who was up there the last time you were. I know it was expensive just to travel by himself with no race cars.
The expense is the easiest part to deal with - it means a lot of chasing sponsors, but I've got a pretty good package to sell there. It's the time pre-race that's the real killer. It's basically all I do for a year. I could spend less time and show up less prepared, but, well, no.

OK, forget your car. Let's say you have a decent car, ready to go. No prep needed. What are approx costs and time to get there and do the event? IS there much difference between the Targa class and the TSD Class?
Also, I'm getting too old, my thoughts on seeing that weight and torque, my brain went 'no thanks, too much for me' I think the nads must have shrunk in the wash after all these years. I need to stop washing myself, that's it!!!!
Good questions. Tell you what, I'll split these off into another topic so that anyone looking for it will find it.

I've sorta worked myself into this power/weight range gradually. The "standard" 250 hp turbo Miatas are a baseline now It's really not that bad to drive because it's just so predictable. I've only been surprised by one of the V8 cars once, and that was the very first lap on the track when it lit up the tires on a 2-3 shift in the middle of a sweeper. They only do what you ask, and with such a flat torque curve it's easy to dial in just the amount of thrust you need. The diff does a great job of hooking up, which helps. They're really not a crazy handful like you might think.

I'm sure it's all relative, I guess I've been away from high poewr (and torque) RWD cars for too long. The last big powerful RWD Car I drove was a GT500 Shelby. The speed that could get from 70 to 140 was just insane. I just can't imagine serious power on the track at the edge of the envelope. Last car I drove on track was 200hp FWD so I am way out of practice.
