i was gonna say the same.. VW guys have done this plenty.

Aircooled VW guys have cheated this way as well to find cheap or temporary skinny's for the old skinny wheels.

Can you still get those? I think donuts run solid rubber tires these days.

I have never seen a solid rubber tire on a donut spare. Every one I've seen has been air filled.

I just mounted some 165/45/15 on an 8" rim. Looks stupid to me but some people use them.

If you search around, there are some fairly large ones, and radials as well. I ice raced on Windstar spares- 135/80r15' IIRC. We ran upwards of 100mph with 12 bolts per foot and off road tire sealer, and as long as the air stayed in, they never failed.

They are WAY tougher than you might think.
