Just because I figure I could drive it for the summer and then sell it at the end for the same amount I paid for it.

Eh, maybe it's not as much of a deal as I think it is. Looking at NADA they have it priced at the NADA retail. Still...

I've seen them in the 10K range. They are getting tempting.

Not sure, but at that age I'd swap out shocks anyway.

I've been looking at Vettes lately also. I've never worked on them much so I need to do some homework before I get serious. I'm not sure it makes sense for me or not. One thing that attracts me to the late models is that they get decent fuel mileage.

Z51 includes stiffer springs and sways too. Not sure if the gearing is changed in the C5 but I know my C6 has a shorter 1st gear with the Z51 package. That is a pretty average price, but if you didn't have to spend any money on it throughout the summer I'd say you could enjoy the car for very little cost. If it needs tires at any point in your ownership for example, you won't get that $$$$ back out.

Aren't the brakes bigger too?

Used car lot? Offer $10k - settle somewhere on your side of the middle.

I always assume used car pricing is like haggling with street vendors in Mexico. "No senor, I could never sell for that..."

Until they do.

Seems ok but they don't offer much of a description unless I missed it.

I've been looking at those for the last few months. That one seems to be priced about right. Lot's for sale here, in all price ranges

Consider your insurance costs, too. It's rarely cheap for Vette's...

Nearly there, married and a clean driving history. I was shocked the last time a priced insurance on a new vehicle. Added next to nothing to add it to the ones already there.

I see 2001-2002 Z06 with similar miles listed at 16K range. If you can live with bright yellow, those seem to be cheaper.

Corvettes are cheap to insure most of the time IME. When I priced an STI or M3 it was usually much higher.

On the contrary, vettes are cheaper than A LOT of other sports/sporty cars. Even less than a lot of non sports cars. Gotta consider the fact that most owners are older and (in theory) more mature, most of the time vettes are not the primary car so they aren't driven as much. All this adds up to a lot less claims.

It's cheaper to insure a C5 than either my Wife's Cobalt, or my Colorado, and that's with regular insurance and full coverage. Specialty car insurance is half that price.
