Pretty common for very high-end cars to have a key in the form of a matchbox-sized version of the car these days...it may seem bulky but it's better than carrying a key + a fob. I almost wish my car needed a fob so it would make sense to get one of these made
The best part is if you lose it, you can go to any locksmith, and they'll make you another one for 2 bucks!
I shudder to think what the dealer would get for a replacement key. Not that I've ever lost one, but I understand there are people who do...

Or more likely for the kinds of cars that have these, if you own for a living instead of working, everyone at the country club can see when you've got a new car without going outside, and you can fantasize about placing it on the poker table like James Bond and getting impressed gasps rather than "WTF is that key for?" faces from everyone

Surely less than Porsche would charge to not install some option from the factory

If this weekend was any indication, I always knew where it was.
Knowing Porsche, that key was probably a $2k option. Getting the key color-matched to the car would have been another $1k.
Cool, but I would not want that in my pocket. berkeley that.
I had a Kia Soul rental a few weeks ago, with 2 keyfobs that size, cabled together (someone tell me the point of that). Could barely fit them in my pocket.
Keys go in my pocket. Stop making them so big I can't fit them there.
Get off my lawn.
I was watching a video review of the Pagani Hyuaira. It has a key very similar the shape of the key is a small version of the car. The thing I can't believe is that to start the car you have to remove the front of the key and interface half the car with the dashboard to start it. What the hell are you supposed to do with the front half of the car? It's hilarious because they show him remove the cap, start the car and cutscene something has been done with the "cap" kinda like all the plug in hybrid comercials don't show coiling up the cord.

My thoughts exactly.
I had a rental car a couple months ago and they gave me three giant keyfobs cabled together. I asked the guy at the counter about it, and he said they did it so they wouldn't lose any of the fobs...my thought was it was a pretty good way to lose all the fobs at one time.

It's gonna suck when that cap gets lost...
You don't coil up EV charger cords though, they're too thick. You hang them up like a gas nozzle.
Found pics of the Huayra key:
That would be a bigass thing to carry around!
Looks like the ass end of the car is the key and the front end is a USB device. Maybe it plugs into the car somewhere else? Holds your music or something? Not a bad idea.
Edit: Just checked, I guessed right about the front end, it's a flash drive for music and plugs in elsewhere.

$200 to get the keys color-matched doesn't seem unreasonable. Especially when you consider that replacing a key fob usually runs $200-300.

Sounds like you need a European Carry All.
