Some lady ran a stop sign this morning and tore the nose off of my Mazda5. I'm okay, at the ER now getting checked out. The Falcon looks toasted.
What to replace it with?

Given the situation and the events that lead to you needing a replacement, I recommend a Sherman Tank
The MPGs shouldn't be any worse than the Javelin
Glad to hear you're ok first off, but if you liked the 5 and it did everything you asked of it, then why not get another?
After seeing a few 5's/MPV's lately in crashes, I can't say I'd suggest one to a family person. A member on one of our Elantra boards just lost 2 children, put his wife and the 3rd child in the hospital on a 2 vehicle crash.
I think another 5 is in order, unless you need more space. If you need more space, I think Caravan AVP is the answer.
I hope that you're fine. Having rented a 5, and loved the way it drove, I'd say get another. Lots of utility in a smaller (than average) vehicle, with what I think is good fuel economy.
Glad to hear you are alright! That stinks about the 5 though.
The newer ones have the same 2.5 that my 3 has, and even the same wheels. The exterior isn't as good looking as the 1st gen though. It has this weird swirly wave body line that is just strange, and the tail lights look kinda frumpy. If you can live with that, they are great cars. There's not much else these days in the mini-minivan class.
Sorry to hear, hope all will work out for you!
Another 5 would be cool, but a flex is a great choice too!
A Flex is a Clipper Ship compared to a Maz 5.
Get another 5 and add the Speed goodies and enjoy the smiles.
Made it out of our crappy hospital alive and not missing any digits/limbs. CT scan showed no additional injuries to my neck. Here's the Falcon:
The red 12 Exploder behind it is what ran the stop sign. I caught her in the RR door and wheel, sh ripped the nose at a pretty good clip.
Unfortunately her agent is being a total Bob Costas and trying to get me to accept partial liability. Bad move berkeleyer, I will berk you up and win. The lady got 3 citations at the scene!
My rental is a new Outback. 65 miles on it! (It's a gutless POS that understeers like a paddle steamer).
Wow. Yeah take 'em down Javi.
Yeah, I've not been impressed with Subaru, since ever, but like many things they can be improved, but I don't understand why you'd want to.
So glad you guys are ok. You sure thats a total? Is the front end tweaked? Looks like it did its job coming apart to dissipate the energy. Gotta love insurance agents. Maybe just call your own and show them the tickets the other party got and let them handle it? I hate dealing with other peoples' insurance.
If you decide to part it out..... I'm local in Seattle and could use a used 2.3l for our 2004 Mazda3.
Unless the other side is a lot worse, I agree it may be repairable, most likely it will just depend on how much exactly they decide it will cost.
