I cant say I would consider the Suzuki Aerio a wagon for the purpose of this thread. Its like a Honda Fit, or a Rio 5.
More like a hatchback, IMO.
Mini clubman.......wagon?

I would DD that in a heart beat if I didn't live where it would return to the earth quickly.
simple answer is escort with a bptswap 30 plus mpg. swap the brakes from an egt or mx3 or protego have 4 wheel disks. eibach springs and fomoco sr struts from a zx2 sr (john bleakley ford has em cheap like 180 for a set atleast thats what they were when i was into escorts) and a zx2 front sway bar with a zx tuner 22mm rear bar and youve got a really flickable car. with 200 whp.
What do you guys think of this:?

Dry California car.
I don't trust European wagons. There's very few Domestic and Japanese options not named Subaru. And there's a defacto agreement that unless your Legacy or Forester is an XT model you have to be a middle-aged woman with indeterminate sexuality.....
So there's not much left besides Mazda 6 wagons.
Thoughts?
Without looking it up, that's gotta be over 3k lbs.
I hate this thread. It brings back my wandering daydreams of wondering what it would take to convert an escort wagon to awd like that '08 challenge car.

Great car. I share you distrust of the Euro cars.

This. I had one and it was light and could be made to handel reasably well. All on junk yard parts.
A v8 and a 5 speed were but a mustang away.
Have to second the Volvo P1800ES since I am in the process of turning this into something interesting.

Yeah, more on that please. Now.
I should have got a picture of my 2013 WRX 5door on the scales at Nationals. 2930lbs, 265hp, 24ish MPG. It's not "Light" but it's only 200-500lbs heavier that what is being talked about as "light".
Tuna:
Gonna have to be patient! I actually have two of these and the first step is to transport them to my shop. Should have some pics of something up on the build page by next week-end.
Since neither time nor money nor tools are an impediment to progress, this should be a fun build.
They weigh in around 2550 lbs and the wheelbase and track look good to swallow the Miata suspension. Not sure how it is going to transfer/attach, but it will in the end. The 302 fits in the hole; been done before.
What could go wrong?
Sure the 1800ES looks cool, but it has an unusable back seat (in a wagon?!) and is 400 lbs heavier than it's coupe brother. Yet I still lust after the one around the corner from me. Go figure.
Kreb:
You are preaching to a guy who has an MGB GT and a Scion FRS. I'm like the overlord of stupid back seats.
Doubt the Volvo will have ANY back seat by the time I get the Miata sub-frame back there.
Doubt that I will care either!
Where do you get the 400lbs extra over the coupe? Seems a bit much since it would put the wagon around 2900?
