Has anyone bought, or know someone who's bought, the Caprice PPVs available through ebay with very very low miles? If I had the scratch, it seems like a nice way into a brand new rwd V8 big car.

Wow... Looks like that would be MUCH easier to make go fast than my P71. LOL I think I'll wait till they get around P71 prices though.
A Chevy dealer near me had a couple of these for sale new, I think they might even have had one that was a V6 as it was a few grand cheaper than the other Caprices. I think they sold their last one a few weeks ago as it was (but no longer is) in the local free "autotrader-type" mags.
Aren't these basically just lightly "de-contented" Pontiac G8s?
I can't state what I would give for one of those because it's a family oriented board. What I can say is I would be very sore in a particularly sensitive area and would never be able to reproduce.

I think they have a longer wheelbase, but I'm not positive.
Yes, they are a longer wheelbase than a G8, but the same chassis.
The first time a used-up one hits the local auction for $3000 I'm going to be all over it like earmarks on a Congressional budget!
After a quick scan for used G8 GTs, the ebay cop car is certainly cheaper, on average. The Caprice would be an awesome buy at $5k or so.
I seen a fully black unmarked one rolling around the Sedalia area. Doesn't even have the spot-lights on it either. Sadly, we are never going the same way and I have yet to snap a pic of it...

same here. i'd off several vehicles for one of those. but i don't think i could stomach giving up my SS.
they'll be easier to spot than p71's too, since we know damn well almost no civvie is going to have one for the next 5+ years.
P71 is the Ford code for "Crown Victoria Police Package"..
this thread should be called "the new 9C1"- which is the GM option code for "Caprice with the police package"..

More because we all know and love P71s. I mean is this the next thing (when it's cheaper) to know and love for the GRMs.
I was 18 when I bought my first 9C1... Dad had his for a year before me. I have longed for another for a long time. I bought my 89 9C1 with 107k miles, sold it to a friend 4 years later with 208k. Dad bought his 91 9C1 with 88k miles, sold it 10 years later with 294k showing on the odo.... and he drove it 2 years with no working speedo/odo. Guy he sold it to drove it 3 more years, rolled it over to 400k showing on the odo before the engine finally started to be a problem.....the #8 spark plug had been changed enough times the threads came out.

$1 bob
Wow, my wife hates the interior on my Accord. She would complain more about this. But hey, she's a Chevy girl at heart.
