I would wonder why you would swap a single can "jdm" d-series into it, personally. Seems like the long way to go, when b- series swaps are more common IRL that Miatas are here.

Probably because it's likely that it's not really a JDM engine. It's probably just a Z6. There were a lot of those around.

And even if it IS a JDM engine, you can find them for peanuts. Nobody REALLY wants D-series anymore, so you can find the best D-series in the world and pick it up for $500. The best part about this particular situation is that likely no modifications were necessary other than swapping the ECU to match. (If they even did that, i'm not holding my breath.)

If this swap took more than a weekend, they did it wrong.

If it wasn't done right, then they should have been touching a car at any point, and it would run pretty badly.

OP, when you drove it, did you take it up to redline ever? If you didn't, make sure you DO before you buy it. If it wasn't done right, it'll likely be in "limp mode" and not rev all the way, nor will "vtec" work. (You'll have to listen for vtec, it's not the kick in the ass that the B-series give you)

It seems a little overpriced to me, but a clean black EG coupe is never REAL easy to find. I'd pay $3000 for it and not hesitate, and in my case, if the motor turned out to be trash after a few months, who cares? B-series time.

Yes I took it to redline and yes VTEC kicked in. And yes it is the SOHC VTEC ZC. All the writing was in Japanese and the engine tag was for a ZC. He bought it because it was a low mileage engine not because it was JDM. This guy is just extremely anal about his cars.
