If it is anyone here, no insult intended... But a Chevette with a checkered flag?
I've seen dirt trackers use those before, Hornets and whatnot. Did well until the more modern stuff came out.
I found it! I don't know the guy, he's CENDIV. Looks like it's been around a long time. Link to CL in the post:

GProd isn't around anymore, you'd have to reconfigure for FP. Says in his CL ad he's going Formula 500.
I've raced at Waterford when that car was in active use. Mike ran it in ITC when the hot cars in the class were CRXs, so he wasn't competitive but he had a lot of fun with it.He just kept fooling with it and progressed to GProd. Besides, how many threads have we seen here where someone laments the lack of rear wheel drive ,light weight vehicles. Here's your chance !
Yup, I ran at Waterford years ago in ITC with a Fiesta, bastard was always ahead of me. Actualy almost everyone was ahead of except Tom Spangler, also in a Fiesta

Thank you for typing exactly what I was thinking!
I would love to have one of those as a track car, and I generally hate GMs. No way would I drive it on the street though.

I thought Chumpcars weren't allowed to cost more than $500?
Wow. Now that I have read the whole CL ad for this car I feel like I have taken a cheap shot with my original post... I apologize for that....
In reply to jstein77:
In chumpcar, you don't actually have to BUY the car for $500, just find 5(I think) ads that say "runner" on them for $500. h

Finding 5 runners at any price could be impossible. This might be the last runner in existance

you're thinking of the 24 Hours of Lemons... Chumpcar just goes by the AIV- Average Internet Value- for running and driveable cars, not including all the safety stuff and what not. so the cage and all the other racey stuff- as well as all the stock replacement extras- is "free" as far as this discussion goes.
i believe this car would also fit into the 24 Hours of Lemons $500 scheme if you got a bill of sale from the guy saying that the car was $300 and the cage, seat, fire system and everything else was $3200.. but it's a Chevette, so i don't think they'd even ask for any documentation.. i defy you to find an ad for a Chevette for sale for MORE than $500..

No biggie to me..when I was racing IT 20yrs ago, we used to tell people who thought about building an "oddball" (and worried about finding parts) that no matter what it is, someone's probably raced it somewhere. We had one guy running a 2nd gen Sentra who found all his sway bars in Japan. Evidently there was some kind of regional one-marque series for them over there.
Racin' is racin'. I still remember the first time I saw pictures of Ladas racing in the old Soviet Union. Blew my mind.

that first one could be had for $500, and that second one is obviously only put up for sale because the wife/girlfriend said it had to go and he put it on CL with a ridiculous price that no one would ever possibly pay for it just so he could say "see, honey, i tried to sell the car but no one appreciates how awesome it is", and if someone did actually give him $3k for it he could go buy 5 more..
I, uh, kinda want one.
Well, truth be told, I want to take one apart. I thought it would be a very, very good donor for a true Locost. I wanted to build one the way the book laid it out - a cool car for very little money.
Alas, it was one of the first projects I realized I have no where near enough time for.
