Yeah, but he used '50 Chevy taillight lenses. Lame. What's the matter with this guy, he can't make his own glass or plastic?
(btw, if I was a 60 year old woman I would totally marry this fella!)
Impressive to say the least.
I particularly like the "I drive it so I don't wash under the hood." The Phoenix to wherever must have been a hell of a trip.
You know you are getting it done with a torch in one hand and a hammer in the other.
I talked to this guy a few years ago, he drove that car all the way to Minnesota for the big Back to the 50s show at the state fairgrounds. He was very nice, and happy to talk about the fabrication of the car.
edit: the film was actually made at the fairgrounds here.
Now one of those mini-engine guys needs to build him a scale flatty. Damn cool, but as with many things, the other side of me asks what the hell the point was?
great, now I have severe drymouth after watching that video with my mouth hanging open, completely slack jawed in the presence of such talented awsomeness.
Imagine seeing that after a night out drinking. My mind was a little blown just seeing it drive around the fairgrounds
I wish the video included a shot of him getting into or out of it. Not that I want to laugh at the awkwardness of the procedure - I'm just genuinely interesting in seeing that, to get a better sense of scale.

I thought it looked familiar... I remember seeing it in person, it BLEW my mind.

I agree with you. That would have been Awesome just to see him in the car with the door open
That's great dedication to a project.. and some great craftsmanship. He must really love those old Mercs. Bet he could turn out some great vintage Jag or Porsche replicas if he set his mind to it.
With the frontal area that thing has, and the 1290 cc engine it must get pretty good mileage. The perfect commuter car !

Yup. You bet that's the sort of thing I hope to wile away my time doing... Among other things, I want to build a D-Type.
I think I would have used a quad 4. From what I have seen and read, people say it resembles an offy when the covers are removed and the aluminum polished
