As some of you know, I run A&M's Society of Automotive Engineers, and we have an active (I promise) Challenge team. This past year, we were planning on bringing a VG Miata, and when that fell back a year due to logistical reasons, we decided to make a blitz to get our '09 car back operational and bring it to the '10 Challenge. We were late sending in the entry fees and paperwork, but they were still accepted.
But about 48 hours before registration day, disaster struck in the form of rapid plastic deformation and fatigue failure:
A failure the likes of which we had never seen. It became very apparent we were not going to make it to the 2010 Challenge. I was able to cancel the hotel, but I had already sent in the check for the Challenge weeks prior.
But tonight, I got a check in the mail. For every last penny of our entry fees.
I really can't thank the GRM staff enough for this. They were under no obligation to return a cent of what we'd paid, and most likely took a hit as the caterer had already been paid. But they were kind enough to return some money to a group of broken-heart college students. I wanted to say something on the forum so more readers/members are aware of the caliber of individuals running this magazine.

Ah, that explains it. I wondered what happened to you guys!
Add me to the "very impressed and thankful" crowd, GRM definitely done me right when I came down to Florida after the West Coast fiasco.

Bump, for a thread about nice gesture by GRM that deserves to be read by others. Good luck with next years effort!
Thanks. We do it all for you. Well, and the government. The government do take a bite, don't she?
She?! God's a she... gov't's a he. Get it right.
And thanks for the props, but we just treat people the way we'd want to be treated, like our mommas taught us.

I think my school's SAE club should do a challenge car. Ideally, it would cost a lot less than this SAE formula hybrid that we don't have enough money to finish.

Aye, but SOOOO many folks DON'T, and that's the key here, kiddo!
Awesome!!!! Now if the latest issue would get here already I'd be truly happy. Fellow subscriber 20 miles down the street got his already :( already bragging about being quoted in it too.

Hit me up if you want ideas on how to approach the higher-ups on it.
