Something we didn't expect to come across our desk today: a 1984 Honda Civic powered by a 3.2-liter V6 out of an Acura CL Type S that now lives behind the rear seats. Think of it as a slightly newer Renault R5, but with serious RADwood vibes.

The best part? It's for sale.

MAJOR WANTAGE

I always wanted to do that with a 2nd generation Integra hatch and a supercharged K24, but this is cooler.

That car originally used the C25A 2.5L V6 out of a 1st-generation Legend. I remember a big deal being made about that car back on the Acura Legend forums. That and the 1G Legend with a supercharged NSX engine and transmission mounted up front driving the front wheels.

The story was that the guy's son owned this 1G Legend and loved it. He passed away unexpectedly, and the father decided to turn it into the ultimate Acura Legend in his memory.

To recreate that now I bet it is two or three times the current bid. And I don't mean doing it GRM challenge style. (Although some one needs to do this). I mean build it and count the labor at current custom/hot rod shop rates.  
 

That is a really cool car.

Whereas I think $25k a total bargain for that build quality and uniqueness.

The bid is already at $35K, so it seems $25K was an appropriate starting point.

This is cool on so many levels. 

Saw that earlier! They should have left the 2.5 c-series in it. It's such a unique time capsule otherwise that the j-series adds nothing. Like finding something that Ed Roth made way back when and saying, "Yeah, the SBC is original to it but the LS1 is faster."

The current owner/seller also says the old engine was "tired" for what it's worth. Apparently it was a daily driver for at least some of its life, which is pretty sweet.

I love it.  I think it's awesome.  Specific thoughts:

- It does a great job evoking it's inspiration, the Renault R5 turbo

- Is that a >green< dashboard?

- That is the best use ever of that style of Corvette wheel!!!

- I miss the flush mounted headlights of the 1986 Civic

- My, what a big battery you have!

Yeah the old C25A/C27A motors, while smooth, were not big power monsters. Like, approximately the same as a B16 but with more complexity and a hanky valvetrain, very little aftermarket support and dwindling parts availability. Oh, and they suck to work on.
