Those of you coming to the challenge-Flooding and Racists warning!

First you should be aware that Richard Spencer is exercising his right to speak at UF on Thursday 10//19 despite us really not wanting him, his views, or any of the drama surrounding him in our town. You may end up sharing hotels with vocal people with ugly views. I would also avoid the UF campus because any rallies that do pop up will likely be in that area. Hopefully since he is speaking Thursday he and his followers will go home afterwards and leave the town to the guys with the cool cheap cars.

Second-Highway 441 is flooded and closed South of Gaineville and North of Micanopy. The highway goes right through the middle of Paynes Prairie which is where all the water ended up after Irma. Google doesn't seem to know this and may try to reroute you down 441 when traffic gets backed up on I-75 around Gainesville due to all nonsense with Spencer. You can check the traffic cam here Florida511 traffic cams and look at it yourself to see if its open.

Hopefully they leave us alone and get out of the way friday.  We're coming in Wednesday, and i do not take kindly to vocal racists.  Or any racists for that matter.

I hadn't really paid any attention so the name didn't ring any bells.  But having just looked him up and read his wikipedia page......what an ass-hat!  Seriously, this little turd is what's wrong with the world today.  As near as I can tell he only lacks "flat-earther" from being wrong in every single belief that he has.

Oooooh E36 M3 this is not gonna go down well with my family. I already had to work to convince them that Gainesville is a chill town, and now actual nazis are gonna show up to the place I'm staying.

Edit: Already heard from other competitors that the hotel was full on Thursday, hopefully with GRMers? Fingers crossed...

Just always steer conversations to cars and away from politics might work.

gameboy you'll be fine, racists are pansies and only have balls if it's many of them to one person.  We're fine, and i gather our hotel is too expensive for most of the trash that would travel to see a white supremacist speak.  They're more the motel 6 or rodeway inn crowd.

Alligator Brewing Co. announced on Oct. 12 that anyone who brings in two tickets to Spencer's event will receive one free draft beer. 

"Tickets to the event are free and available to the public (with proof of ID) beginning Saturday at noon. So starting then, and all weekend long, for every two tickets you bring in, we'll trade you for a free Alligator Brewing draft beer. Those tickets and spots will be disposed of, leaving two more empty seats in the Philips Center," said the brewery in a Facebook post. 

"We unfortunately can't stop him from bringing his hate to Gainesville but we can empty the room so his disgusting message goes unheard."

I saw that. The only issue I see with that plan is the media panning over the ticket line to show how horrible people are and facebook deciding that all those people standing in line should loose their job. 

I find it interesting that these people seem to have accomplished nothing in their lives (that includes that other dipE36 M3 Milo something or other starting with a Y) and yet are held up as some sort of leaders who are heralding a second coming. Nothing like using the media to gain that 15 minutes at any cost.
