According to Al Gores internet, the plastic rear window in a miata can't be tinted. According to jeep guys, the static cling window tint does well.
So tonight, i did static cling window tint to the outside of the miata rear window. Pretty much as an experiment. For $3 i don't have much to lose. Unfortunately, lightest I could find was 20%.
I leave for a roughly 1000 mile trip in the morning. We'll see what happens.

Worked great! No issues with it even operating the top in the cold.
I only owned the car for about 4 months afterwards though, so i dont know about longevity.

Thanks!
Was my thought exactly! And it should keep the window from getting scratched up.
Sorry to resurrect this necro thread but I'm trying to tint my Miata's plastic rear window. I'd like to copy whatever you did OP, if you'd be so kind as to give a few more details of how you did your car before you sold it. I realize this isn't a perfect solution but is better than nothing and I haven't come up with anything better after much research. TIA!
