A friend of mine needs a new muffler for his 90 Civic on the very very cheap to pass inspection. I told him to look into a tractor muffler. I know it was someone on here who put a tractor muffler on their car. How hard of a job is it?

It's probably easier and cheaper to go to Meineke or some local muffler shop and have them put a new one on and call it a day.

That would be me on my '88 accord. My exaust would last about 2 years before it would rust off so i just cut it even and clamped one on. all it took was the muffler for aprox $15, a clamp and a few wire coat hangers.

You can buy cheapy glasspacks for $18 at most parts stores. they flow like crap, but probably flow better than a tractor muffler.

And if glasspacks won't pass, try a turbo style muffler. They are about 18" long with an offset inlet but they can be used in both directions. Usually can get them for $25-30 and they are not a straight through muffler either.I'm not sure if they are close to a "tractor muffler" But I had to put one on the Neon I just picked up and it made the car alot quieter

I just checked Tractor Supply at http://www.tractorsupply.com/ , and their tractor mufflers start at around $30 and go up from there.

i think it would be ultimately cool to put one of those flappers on my EP Mustang solo car...it's already as slow as a tractor anyway.
