The goal this weekend is to push the rotisserie mounted Molvo out of the shop so that I can take the power washer to the underside. Once clean, I will add another layer of Shutz rubberized undercoating and I can then start bolting stuff on to stay.

Question is what de-greaser might be best suited for the job? The power washer is just running off the cold water outdoor tap.

Simple Green? Purple Power? Gunk?

I use Simple Green mixed 4:1 for de-greasing parts. Warm water really helps soften up the old grease. Is there any way to draw from a hot water source, even as an experiment? Otherwise, you may need to scrape off the worst of the gunk. It amazes me how greasy dirt resists even bead blasting at 140 PSI. Bonne chance.

I use superclean. That e36m3 is nasty but it cleans like crazy.

Just came back from the paint supply store, on a whim I asked what they recommend and this was the answer...

Makes sense as it sure seems to take the grime off my hands. Sadly, no easy way to reach hot water tap.

What about a hose to your washer hookup? My laundry room is in a location that makes that pretty easy, maybe yours is, too.

Wasn't there a discussion on this a while ago with strong recommendations NOT to run hot water though a pressure washer?

Since I like to close a thread with results....Used the Simple Green because I was not prepared to deal with the soap suds.

Sprayed the simple green on with a spray bottle and scrubbed with brown 3M abrasive pads. Worked a charm. I got real wet.

Yeah, there was.

However, I have not had a problem (and I use an 89 dollar HF electric special). I do have a hot/cold mix valve on the back of our house though, and I don't use full hot.

My drier vent is on the driveway side of the house I pull the vent hose off run the garden hose thru the vent and hook up to the clothes washer hot water valve. I don't run it long enough to get melting hot water but its warmer then cold.

Purple Power is incredibly nasty, caustic stuff. But nothing gets grease and dirt off better.

I use Simple Green or Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap (liquid form). You can feel less bad about letting it run down the driveway and into the water supply because both products are organic. It's the grease that's not good.

Purple power made the GMC truck project... wet. And nothing else.
