Since we're getting our Subaru wagon ready for some rallycross fun, we decided to protect the underside with some products designed to keep the car from getting too chewed up from gravel and rocks.

The first bit of protection is a Primitive Racing skid plate. It bolts to the front lower radiator support and the subframe/engine cradle. We've found that …

I am voting for Forester springs/struts or maybe KYBs and King Springs. I don't know what class this car is going to be for though. For my personal edification I would also like to see a review of rally tires that are currently available in the US of A.

yea, I'm investigating those options right now.

The car will eventually get a turbo, so it's heading towards M4. Per

I'd be interested in the tires as well- cheaper alternatives? I've heard of folks using geolander truck tires with some success. It would be great to get an idea of what works wheel-wise as well- do I need to buy the Team dynamics wheels, or is there a 16 inch rally option to clear wrx brakes?

There are 16 inch rally wheels, but good luck getting hold of some! And you will pay dearly for the privilege. I am hoping GRM has an inside line and can tell where to get some. There are some 15" rally wheels that will clear WRX brakes like the Team Dynamics, Braids, and some others though none are over about $200 each and will last forever. As for tires, lots of people use winter tires though I always preferred regular all seasons like the Dunlop sp60 just because they last so much longer, work just about as well, and you dont have to change tires(or class). Sounds like this car is headed toward M4 which means the gloves are off and you can do just about anything to the car you want.

Real men do it in a wagon! I have a '98 L that is due to get a 2.5L upgrade but has been recently sidelined by .a broken front spring. I had 40k on my H&Rs and it broke. H&R replaced with no question other than "really?". Great company! Going for a tarmac rally setup!
