The other day I was musing about the odds of stumbling across a half-finished kit car that somebody wanted to get out from under. I then realized we had no specific thread for such opportunities for the Hive to take advantage of ala the Cheap C4 Thread.

That is kind of interesting.
There are tons of such vehicles out there. It says something about human psychology.
How many would you like to see?
Not technically a "kit car".
I'll stop now with the pictures, go sit in a dark room and cry.......... Unfortunately there's another dozen or so in the other warehouse.
Your building them, right?
In reply to lotusseven7 (Forum Supporter) :
Is that a Consulier body or a Consulier clone kit car body?
And I am not sure what to gawk at more: the Seven with a Honda engine poking through the hood (I told you guys they are tall) or the one in the background with an RX-7 Turbo II intercooler visible

When time and funds allow. Mostly collecting unusual ones with my brother.

It's a real Consulier body, supposedly a prototype according to Mr Mosler. Keeping it as a back-up for the green car.
The blue car has a Honda F20C/6-speed. The purple one was a Turbo II driveline tuned to 255rwhp and quite a rush to drive!
That red Lotus is interesting I have never seen one in real life just a convertible that I got a ride in. Man that thing was fast!
The Lotus Sevenish looking one in the first photo looks like a Beva kit.

WOW, someone who knows what a Beva is!
It's not hoarding if you have enough space to make them think you're just eccentric. One day I'll be there.

Wonder how much salt water that thing sat under during Harvey?

Usually right after an Ava, don't forget to tip your waitress!

What is this?
And the car with the blue tarp it?
And is that a batmobile next to it?
Looks like a fiberglass 180SL body, and the blue tarp is probably a Fiero Mera (Ferrari 308). I wanna know what the white car is beyond the Mera.

Oh man, so many opportunities there - for someone. The body shell is where the vast majority of the work goes. If you get the shell to start with, you can build whatever you want from the outside inward. Did that with the carbon fiber "Mini" shell I acquired to create Kimini.

Many years ago, I was living in Toronto. Home for me is in Quebec, so on a trip home to see my parents, I stopped at the home of the guy who built those. He lived near Vankleek Hill, Ontario. In his barn/shop there was a bare chassis and a freshly pulled set of body panels. I commented that the chassis looked suspiciously like a Lotus 7 chassis. He smiled and flipped a tarp off another car/chassis and there sat an authentic Lotus. He had just copied it, but with larger square tubing. I was seriously considering buying one to autocross and take on backroad runs to Mosport race weekends.
Chris Williams up in Vankleek Hill. In the middle of nowhere and was quite the fiberglass master. Visited him a few times, once to buy the Beva and again to look at the Diva he was beginning to build. I remember the drive and a small fish & chips truck on the side of the road, parked miles from anything!

If by "them" you are referring to us, there's no reason to keep up the charade. We're all friends here.
Wow, what's this?
Looks like some sort of mid-50s Ferrari.

Is the SL body for sale?

We had a local guy that built a dune buggy before they were that popular - it featured a tuned VW engine but the guy also was quite a smart suspension guy. The car won local slaloms outright and he also ran it in hill climbs. It used to drive the local nose in the air types crazy when it beat their Porsches and such.
I don't have any unfinished kit cars, just the Fiberfab Jamaican that I did finish. One of the few kits car bodies that look like it was designed for a real rather than kit car. The other ones I like are the body kits on the Datsun 240 Z platform, but I think it is ironic that the most 'correct' looking body (mostly the Ferrari 250 GTO clones) are on a car that has such good styling in stock form.
