The Yugo needs new outers, other than factory kits from yugoparts at $16 a side, all that is available are the universal Dorman and Raybestos kits. How do the universals compare to OEM boots? I.E. is the bang for buck at least even?

are the universal kits the type that wrap around the joint and bolt together? Those are a temp fix at best, get the right ones from Yugoparts
note to self...check boots on YFH
Theres only 3 dimensions that are critical, so if you have a friendly parts store, or can find an online buyers guide, measure shaft diameter, joint diameter and length. Search and enjoy.

No, the kind that look like and are installed as you would a normal boot.

Should be fine, then. I ran universals on my '87 CRX for two seasons without a problem. Just make sure you install them like you would factory boots and you should be OK.

agreed as long as they aren't those horrid things for people too lazy to pull the axle and do it right then you should be fine.
At least the autozone ones are complete junk. I tried them on my Milano because the right ones cost $50 each, but they were ripped in a few months, and that's on a rwd car. IMO they are no way worth it.
