We're currently getting ready for our first ever ChumpCar race this April and one of the many items needed between now and then is a Hans Device. The budget is very tight so I was hoping to find a used one. In the classified section of a local dirt track I found a listing for what appears to be a very good condition Hans 20MS Sport for a fair price. Any suggestions on what to be looking for when checking out a used Hans or general thoughts about buying used?
If you are concerned, you can get it recertified by HANS, although you'll already have bought it.
Another way to go is the new Necksgen. You can get a $100 rebate on it through the end of this year if you buy it on the LeMons website, which makes it $499. I have no idea how they perform against the HANS in a real-world situation (and neither does anyone else, yet, as far as I know). Supposedly they are more comfortable than the HANS and provide more lateral support.
