Hey all,

Looking at unloading my Previa once i get hold of a new car but i'm not real sure what to ask.

It's a 93 All-Trac model with an auto and 230K miles in reasonably good shape EXCEPT it's got low compression in the number 2 cylinder (100 in #2 vs 165 in the rest). Mechanic said likely a burnt valve FWIW. Because of this, it idles rough for 30-60 seconds on startup and smokes pretty good until warmed up. Once it's warmed up it runs fine, you'd never know anything was wrong.

All the accessories (except A/C) work fine and the interior and body are in decent shape. I still drive it every day and deliver papers in it. It's also got nearly new tires.

I was thinking $500, It's not worth much less than that for scrap prices. Any opinions?

thanks!

Jacques

Here in the northeast, at a wholesale, dealer-only auction, it would sell for about $500-600. I'm not sure if that helps a whole lot, but it's the only point of reference I can offer.

Is it a bad job to remove the head, and fix the valve? How reliable are these? Can one get parts to fix it easy enough? Any rot? What can it tow weight wise?

I would be interested in it at $500 if it was easy enough to fix.

I would be interested in it if I had any money at all. From when I have looked on Craigs they seem to not drop lower than 1000 no matter what the condition but I haven't really looked into them extensively.

I think $500 is a 'very good deal' to the right buyer, and also low enough that even the wrong buyers will still buy it.

No idea on value, but i have to ask - is it possible to combine all of the Previa goodness into one van: AWD/5-spd/supercharged? Or will the 5-spd not work with the AWD???

I have a friend that works at a Toyota dealership as a mechanic and he states that the Previa AWD SC is the best vehicle Toyota ever made as far as reliability. As far as service, particularly engine service, when it needs it........not so good.

Why yes, it is It will all bolt together.

Though I don't think they came in the combination of supercharged/alltrac/5speed, I almost bought one with that combination 3 months back but it's interior was on the receiving end of a pitbull puppy's chewing rage.
