Not an expert on Santa Fe's, but it looked to me to be 5-8 years old. 

Might have just been a really good driver.  eg. Sabine Schmit at the Nurburgring in a Ford Transit... 

At my very first driving school, one of the instructors brought his Prius and it was said that last time he was out in a Neon on snow tires. He was proving the point that you can track lots of things that aren't "sports cars".

Depending on what vehicle you are trying to use, you will have a different experience. The only way to make sure that your car is up to the task (braking mostly) is to get track day insurance.
