Don't think I've seen this posted here, so...here it is.
I don't have any well-formed thoughts on this, but it did surprise me a bit, even though it kind of makes sense for them to distance themselves from anything that puts off emissions.
In reply to ProDarwin :
Mostly just TCR. The article mentions they were working on an updated car for that, but it's canceled now. Also the second-tier class of WRC, they will build cars for customers but not run a team now.
So I guess they only canceled one and a half programs.
Javelin said:ProDarwin said:What non-electric motorsports programs do they have?
WTCC, WRC, and TCR.
I stopped paying attention to WRC around the time the Eurosport feed stopped being available quasi-licitly. Hasn't VW been kicking ass in WRC with their new rules that allow non-production engines?
Ya, I also lost interest when US coverage got spotty and after Mitsu and Subaru pulled out. I have no idea who/what are running anymore. I miss it.
So I guess this just leaves Porsche, Audi, Bentley and Lambo. Do they think we're stupid? I mean, we are, but still....
codrus said:_ said:What do they run that's all electric?
Presumably Formula E.
No, the VW group FE effort is Porsche-branded.

VW has been out of WRC pro for three years I think? WRC is down to just two full manufacturer programs now...just like WEC, the cars got too high-tech and expensive.

Simple to fix this too. Rwd only, big names. Bring it to everybody's backyard. It was fun to see them do arduous journeys through the African desert. But it'd be cooler if they were somewhere near me.

Oh, no! Whatever shall I do? This is the worst thing since the discontinuation of the Chrysler LeBaron! Whatever will I drive???

My question, asked in the first response. Well done.

What Motorsports programs do they have at all? Rallycross and Pike's Peak are more like one-offs, not programs.... This is all marketing.
