I looked at a 960 this afternoon that I'm thinking would be a great swap starting point. I have a wrecked explorer at my disposal so the two would become one....I see converse engineering, is there another kit distributor?
Has anyone done it?
Thanks!
Here is another I have stumbled across (reading only)

I drove a V90 with a 5.0 V8 swapped in it and while it was a nice car the shift kit in the auto Trans was a mistake. I think it would have been perfect with a stick. The V90 has independent rear suspension but is otherwise very similar to the 960 wagon.
The 960 wagon that I looked at was a late model, so basically a v70. There is also one that has had the wiring harness butchered, but I'm not sure how much of that would be reused.

The 960 has independent rear suspension too. The V90 and 960 are basically the same car, they just renamed them in later years.
Not all of them, it appears to be a 96 or 97 change.

The 960 wagon didn't get IRS until '95, sedans had it dating back to the 760 of '88.
Jags That Run sells a book, and a few things like motor mounts, for an SBC-type conversion.

My brother's 340,000 mile 940 with 5.0L Explorer/4r70w tranny drivetrain. Almost 100k miles since the swap.
while I do like my 850.. I would have loved to find a nice RWD volvo around here.. sadly, they were all automatics

Not true. V90= updated 700 series, longitudutinal engine, rear wheel drive. V70= updated 850, transverse engine front wheel drive.
Yup, your right. I messed up the number.
