Dude emailed me while at Nationals and asked if I still had it. I said I did. Asked if I would be interested in the Plasma Cutter he is selling - http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/tls/2565295259.html. I said I was. He pitched a trade with me making up the $400 difference. I pitched trade + $250. He said that he'd do $300 if I got the bike running. So this morning, I went downstairs, pulled the carb off and apart, cleaned out the varnish, sprayed all the orifices with carb cleaner and blew it out with compressed air. Put it back together, and bam - starts right up. Aired up the tires and drove it around the yard. He came by this afternoon and he now has a bike and I have a plasma cutter.
Stoked. :)
Damn! I want one so bad. You lucky bastard! Does it have pilot arc?
Nothing is more fun than taking big pieces of metal, turning them into small ones, so you can make big ones again.
One day I'll have one.

It does.
Damn!
Sometimes I use my TIG welder as a cutter for sheet metal. Tiny cup, no stickout, crank up the gas, LET ER RIP!

I would have cut up an entire car within 10min of owning that.
what does the "pilot arc" do? Mine is a Hobart AirForce 500 and I find it extremely difficult to cut straight with it. About the only way I can do it is to use the guide that came with it and a straight edge. Could be due to the fact that I'm a noob and not practiced up. I just thought it would be easier to cut with. It does leave behind some slag too which surprised me
Heard in Dave's garage about 10 minutes after the Plasma cutter arrived:
Lights up plasma torch, looks in mirror
"You want what out of what?"
eVil laughing commences
I -love- my plasma cutter.
You guys are gonna hate me when I tell you I paid $50.00 for mine.
I bought a "broken" one from a guy. He'd lost the little safety bit on the torch that closes the circuit and didn't know it.
I only found out when I started digging through the parts manual.

That's how you get a straight cut, it's almost impossible without a guide
