I'd be in the showroom tomorrow if they had something like this! Can you say Z3 M Coupe, but probably better!

I can't remember if I replied on how it looks yet.

I like it. The headlights are just a little small, but whatever. The car looks great inside and out. If they build a shooting brake-style coupe, I know what my next daily driver is going to be, as long as it has a small rear shelf, err, seat, for my canine friend. I better keep on my diet so I can fit in there!

You honestly expect a lot of American drivers to actually look in their rear view mirror? You've got a lot of faith, sir.

Don't tease me like that. If it's in the showroom, I'll be in debt...

Hate to say it, but the slammed look really suits this car IMHO. Maybe Mazda will break new ground by offering adjustable ride height from the factory.

Or maybe not. . .

I swear to god, I'd call my wife and tell her she has to pick up the kids today because I'm going to be at the Mazda dealer. I will be in front of all you bastards in line if they were to do this. All of you. Me first.

The shooting brake does nothing for me. The wind buffering the cabin with the windows down is horrible in all of the shooting brakes I have driven. My C30 is absolutely horrible in that respect. Plus usually the gas tank usually in the middle in the Miata and that takes up a lot of room.

I see the attraction for some but for me....drop top please.

Sorry to say it, but the slammed with aftermarket rims makes me throw up in my mouth a little. Ugh. To me, it's "1992 Honda Civic'ing" the car.

The shooting brake on the other hand....ooooohhhhhh, build that bad boy. Put a back seat in there big enough for kids to tolerate for a short trip and I'll camp out at the Mazda dealer like I did at Ticketmaster for Rolling Stone tickets in 1988.

Everything you just said.

Except I was 6 in 1988 and not all that interested in the Rolling Stones.

Actually, I am still not that interested in them, but everything else for sure.

I think it looks great. I would have liked the more vertical headlights from the gray rendering more (e.g. like Ferrari California-esque) but it still looks good. I like how simple the interior is, at least relative to most modern stuff. I don't like the un-integrated dash screen or the "hey look at me I think I'm a brake duct!" crap on the front/rear fascias, but overall it's a nice look. The weight reduction is HUGE news (pun intended), but I'm waiting to hear about the engine/power figures. And a weight distribution figure would be nice, although I have to say, the following picture demonstrates why this car has jumped in front of the BRZ in my "cars I would buy if I was getting a new-ish fun car and didn't mind the 250HP power loss from selling the STi" list.

It reminds me of all the good things about my old S2000... except the power figure (and there really wasn't anything wrong with the S2000 except age and wear). DANG IT, MAZDA, TELL US ALREADY!

Oh, and MOTION SECONDED ON THE SHOOTING BRAKE. The only thing keeping me from having a Z3 M Coupe on my "next car" shortlist is the E30-derived trailing arm rear suspension. I can swap in a 6-speed or an S54 later

So Keith. You guys at FlyinMX5 seem to have a good working relationship with Mazda, will you be getting an early build car prior to it going on official sale for you to start looking at aftermarket unnatural aspiration? What are your first thoughts based on it being a SkyActive and what (very little) you can tell from the pics and the Xray view?
