Great movie, and an amazing bloke..... but the movie wasn't a blow by blow documentary by any stretch, it was based on a true story entertainment. Also it was a different era when Burt set his record, safety protocols weren't what they are today, it was 50 years ago. In saying that, even in those days, they really weren't inclined to just let him have at it. They said no way to him repeatedly because the bike didn't meet the safety criteria etc.
There will never be another 'Burt Munro' type of run at Bonneville. You want to run, build to the rules, jump through the hoops and give it your best shot.
