So what did it actually weigh?

3800 and change.

I thought my Magnum was pretty fun considering it was stock and had tiny rubber. The weight distribution was good. It had just as bad of transient response as you would expect, but once it settled in it would still turn harder before understeer than your typical FWD equivalent, and it was confidence-inspiring to drive quickly because it felt like you were driving an armored bunker. There was at least one time i had it 4 wheels up and sideways coming out of a big dip in the hills around Wimberley TX. Drive it somewhere where you need all that stock wheel travel and you will think stock is great. AutoX is a different ballgame but probably a more enjoyable kind of performance for 'normal' roads.

You can get koni street all the way around for $400 total. That seems like a good place to start.

According to the all knowing wiki, the LX platform is a stretched W 211 E-class with a W 220 front suspension. I would think the Benz tuning community would be a place to start.

3800 and change seems good compared to 4410lbs (http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-reviews/road-tests/2011-dodge-charger-rt), 4253 (http://autos.yahoo.com/dodge/charger/2013/r-t-rwd/specifications.html), or 4315 (http://www.edmunds.com/dodge/charger/2011/road-test-specs.html)

To put it in perspective, to have the same wheel/tire size compared with your basic 90s E36 M3box with 15x7/205, the Charger would need 12.5 inch wide wheels and 365mm tires.

In reply to ProDarwin:

I don't doubt the number, but how is it possible that the new Charger is 610 lb heavier than a Magnum? Same platform, right?

Seriously...4410 pounds. That's 1000 pounds heavier than my Supercoupe. No one ever gets to call her fat again.

Maybe the Magnum was filled with helium.....

Powertrain, suspension, wheels, and tires all add up. The hemi is heavier than a 2.7 or 3.5. The NAG1 is heavier than a 42rle. A thick swaybar is heavier than a thin swaybar, same with springs, and the factory 20" wheels are WAY heavier than 17s.

The number i posted is normal for a v6 magnum.

P71s always beat the Chargers, I think in part because the Charger's wheelbase (120") is 6" longer than the Ford's. The Charger is just a huge vehicle. On a road course I have no idea if the outcome would have been the same.

That sounds like a good time!
