In 2006, my Mother-in-law needed a replacement for her '91 Camry. We found a '96 Accord at a little corner used car lot. Basic beige/beige 4cyl / auto sedan. 105K, one owner, all maintenance done on time at the dealer per the hand written records in the owners manual. I drove it for a couple of days before we gave it to her. It was wonderful! Slow, yes, but everything worked beautifully! What a deal!
When our 2nd was on the way we upped to a Sequoia, also a great SUV with the 3UR. I longed for a Land Cruiser but lost again.
Oh man, can i add a car I haven't bought yet?! My wife and I checked out a ~19 Lexus LX570 and became obsessed with it. 
It's always been MKI Rabbits, I don't know why but I just love them. I actually have stayed away for almost five years but I've been storing my nephews 81 and I think I may jump back in.

We bought a 96 EX Leather new, for $20,780. Drove it 276K trouble free miles. At that point, 4th gear started having a bit of trouble, and we donated it to salvation army. Great car. It wasn't as good as the 90-93 EX, but was excellent in its own right.

Big LC fan/long time owner here. The 200 series is fantastic. Get one. 300 series is coming.

The 200 is definitely fantastic. Sequoia won out with 2nd/3rd row room and being 30% cheaper on the used market. Knowing they have the same engine, transmission, front suspension etc. made it easier to go along with it. I know for the $20k saved a tundra rear axle could find its way under the rear somewhat easily. (Life Goal: Have first solid axle swapped front/rear 2nd gen Sequoia)
Plus its a kiddo hauler, I have been forbidden from having fun with her cars...
Keeping with the thread, 2nd Gen Sequoia also way better than expected.
Bought a 1989 Ford Probe for the $2004 Challenge, figuring, "Well, it's a turbo car, maybe I could turn up the boost." Never did as it had some issues I didn't have time to resolve, like a worn clutch. But I distinctly thought on the test drive, "Well, the handling is nothing special." Seemed very drama free, though. Then I took it on an autocross run and found that its handling remained balanced, composed, and drama free right up until the point the tires completely lost their grip. And it also could carry a remarkable amount of cargo with the back seat folded down.
In 2001 we were looking for an inexpensive appliance for Mrs. P. Somehow we ended up with a 99 Z24.
It was so good to us that in 05 when I needed a commuter I bought a 2000 Z24. I put a header, 2 1/2" exhaust, bored a TB and lowered it on quality 17's. That thing just ate up the highway miles, and was way quicker than it should have been. When my son moved out about 5 years later and needed a reliable car I sold it to him, well in theory I did because I don't think he ever paid me for it. That Q4 made all the right noises, and those were the most comfortable seats I've ever had in a car.

1988 CRX Si, loved that little car. Had it for almost 2 years, i've been through a lot of cars (on #46 now) and the CRX probably has the most memories.

2003 StypeR. I kind of bought it on whim. I didn't need another car, especially a ford era Jaguar. I've never been big on 4 doors, or big cushy boats but damn if that thing didn't give me a lot of smiles. Ice cold A/C, cushy as hell seats, and the "big" supercharged v8 made for a car that just ate up the miles. Plus it surprised a lot of people stoplight to stoplight. A target version of an M5, just without the manual trans.
I always liked cars, I had some cool ones before I even realized it. But at 37 years old I sold my Corolla and bought the Allroad. I only owned it for 3 years and it was, well....an Allroad. But it opened my eyes to cool cars. It had boosty power and did things that physics said it shouldn't have been able to.

While you can! Getting scarce now. Still looking for a VW Pickup, but the money for even a polishable turd is just too much for me now.
I took an SAE class at the BWW center in California and my favorite car, by a long shot, that they let us drive was the i3. I was not expecting that.
Yep, the Aztec. Keep in mind, I was in FL on vacation with the family, had a lot of luggage and had to bounce between Orlando and Tampa. It was spacious for a family of 4, plenty of room for luggage, great visibility, strong A/C, and better than any of the tiny sedans on the lot. I popped the hood instead of releasing the ebrake about 10 times, so ergonomics/UI was lacking, but overall it was a pleasurable vehicle for a week.

a couple on my phone
93 Escort for me. Bought one for $400 from original owner who bought new in college. Needed new tie rods but that's it. Had MX-3 Recaros, ZX2 springs, Escort Wagon rear sway bar on it. Not the fastest car on the block but handled well, reliable and got 43 mph on trip from Philly to Montreal and back. Drove it for a couple years and sold it to an Escort fanboi and made out okay on the deal.
For me, it was a 1989 Nissan Maxima SE just like this:
When I was 18, I was getting ready to go off to college, which I'd be commuting to. I had a 1987 Mercury Cougar XR7 as a daily driver and it had about 270k mi on it. My parents wanted me to buy something "reliable", but I fought them tooth and nail, trying to sell them on swapping a 5.0 HO in the car and doing a ton of mods. My sister worked at a dealership that took in a 1989 SE just like this with 198k on it. The car was a one owner car and super clean and always dealer maintained, and I could buy it for $800. I reluctantly went and drove it, and immediately fell in love. I still miss that car; it's the benchmark I rank all other daily drivers to, even 20 years later.
For me it was the NA Miata. I was an Alfa snob at the time and I wanted not to like it. I finally drove one in late 1990 and bought one not too long after that.
surprisingly, my Disco. As many sports cars as I have owned over the years, I actually prefer driving that beast of an off-roader. There is something majestic the way it just trummels the bumps into submission, but can still lift her skirts and show supposedly better handling cars the way around a few corners
