What Color is Your Garage

...interior walls. It's time to paint mine. Seeing the pcis of Andy Nelson's new shop is giving me insparation. I was thinking of going with a very light grey in semi gloss. The thought is that it won't look dirty as quick as white and it will still being light enough to keep things on the bright side. Any thoughts / practical experience?

bare framing/osb color. works for me, i hate painting.

A combination of remnant paints-it turned out very light brown.

Bare drywall with the seams sealed...I would paint it but it is just a rental.

I went with a bit of style (except on my nasty floors). Dark red for the back wall. Black on one side (where the black 4Runner parks). Beige on the other side (where I do my work, so want it lighter), and white ceilings.

Also all the wooden shelves, benches, etc that I built I painted flat black.....looks much cleaner than bare wood and matches my toolchest/workbenches.

Next spring I'll do the floors. Probably will do a beige color as well.

of course, I have so much crap in there now, you can hardly even see the walls, lol..

Go two tone and keep the top half matte or satin white to get the most light reflected then go for your gray on the bottom half to help hide dirt and scuff marks. Just run a length of tape along the wall.

I would just go all white for max light and repaint it years later when it goes to hell. Maybe add some pinstripes or something just for a little color.

2/3rds bare wood, the rest sheet rock.

For me: White walls, white swirled plaster ceiling (guy who built the house was a plasterer) and a red I-Beam that serves as my accent wall.

Do not do the grey. I thought the same thing you did and painted my first garage walls with grey Drylok. I wouldn't do that again. It makes it too dark. Stick with white.

Thanks to everyone for their feedback. The guy we bought our house from was a stucco man by trade. He sutccoed everything...including the inside of the garage. Currently one wall is an orangey color, one is grey, the other wall, ceiling, and garage door are white. All are dirty.

Maybe I will go with white on two walls and the ceiling and go with an accent color (good idea irish44j) on the other wall.

This is a really bad picture, but if you look at the walls, the bottom is oil based dark gray and the top is semi-gloss latex. It works really well for me.

Walls, what walls. I haven't seen them in so long I'm not sure I remember.

1/3 is sheet rock.

1/3 is insulation back color.

1/3 is studs & plywood.

I don't do anything fast.

studs/plywood/insulation/junk. that is, in the rare places where you can actually SEE the walls...

I just went to my local Lowes and got 5 gallons of a returned custom color that was white-ish. It was only $25 for the whole bucket...of couse I haven't actually painted yet since I despise painting!

The one off the house is used for storage mostly and my mom had it painted......pink.

100 year old bare wood. I've had 1/8inch white tile board stuff sitting for a few years. Got it from a freind who built a new garage and he striped it out.
