Bought new front sway bar end links and lock nuts for the S197 at the Ford dealer today. Got .02 back from a $100 bill, not complaining tho, I now have all the parts for the suspension upgrade.
Yesterday was a fantastic 80°... today was 34° w/ snow.
Rebuilt the overdrive hydraulics and reassembled the Spitfire transmission. Total cost was less than $35.00 for parts.
Made a test stand out of some scrap wood, Miata water pump pulley and belt. An old blower motor spins the transmission up to test speed.
Overdrive checks out perfect!

Plastidipped the hood of the Subaru. A friend has the equipment for it, vs using 15 rattle cans at home. No more faded hood. (Hard to photograph in sunlight, but after the winter I'm not bitchin.)
Think I might do the front end next. Clear coat is peeling & I have enough left-over black.

Originally the tiller had the old siphon style Pulsa-Jet carb/tank combo, it was rusted and corroded beyond repair. When I last used the tiller 4 or 5 years ago, I made that adapter and swapped the carburetor between my push mower and tiller when needed, the tiller's fuel tank was a modified white grape juice bottle.
I modified the old carb adapter to fit the eBay carburetor, and made a mount for a Surplus Center 4 quart fuel tank. I had to fab up a new throttle to hold the new carburetor's throttle valve open since it's a spring loaded guillotine instead of a butterfly.
Surprisingly the carburetor worked amazingly well right out of the box. I only adjusted the idle a little bit. Sputtered on the second pull with choke closed, open choke and it roared to life on the third pull.

I added a digital tachometer to keep an eye on things since the new carburetor doesn't have any provisions for a governor.

hand washed my RX8 for the first time in a few years. Lately I've just been going to those auto touchless ones. They claim not to swirl the paint or anything like that, but they also don't clean very well...
Soon to come, I'm taking the wheels off and cleaning them up. Then some minor polishing, waxing, etc...
To SWMBO's car over the weekend: major paint cleaning, rubbing compound, polishing compound, and touching up in the area where she declared war on the neighbor's mailbox. That fender has never been perfect (minor rust when we bought it, and some minor bending from when she got rear ended hard that was never properly fixed by car craft in Braintree, MA) but that spot on the fender was always nice looking
Soon to come, i'm going to try my hand at paintless dent repair. Failing that, traditional dent repair with some painting. Failing that, rustoleum gloss black and a 'job well done' drink.
Started loading the Valiant for Big Bend Open Road Race flag station duty.
Tore the motor down in the Jensenator last night to fix that f!@&^%#(@ng dowel pin O ring that started leaking profusely. It's actually for the best; I discovered that Hylomar seems to dissolve the glue that holds the ends of the outer water jacket o rings together. Would hate to have found THAT out at 7000 RPM under load.
Zomby, that's a cool Cagiva! I think that's actually a Husqvarna from the plastic? We used to call 'em Huskagivas down here.
Took the broken throttle cable off to get it repaired. Then I can see if the rebuilt Webber's are good or if I screwed them up...

Changed the oil in the Mini on Thurs. Drove it to work and a cruise night on Friday.
Worked on figuring out a no-start issue with the GT6. Looks like a bad starter.
Used the 70 Duster to kill a giant turtle that I couldn't miss. Broke it about 80 miles later. Lost a caliper adapter mounting bolt. Flatbeded it to the tint shop where I fixed it and it is currently being tinted along with all the glass for my 64 el camino. While there I installed a grant steering wheel and fixed the horn on a 71 nova to pay for the tint job. So two cars for free, plus a sixty dollar tow bill. And drove the hot rod ove two hundred miles.

Swapped out clutch master and slave cylinders, Swapped out brake master cylinder.
Then just because, I pulled off the Weber DCOE that I have been running and tossed on a set of groatty swap meet SU carbs that I picked up for cheap. Damned if they don't seem to work.
Test drive tomorrow after I sort some throttle linkage
removed halfshaft and found that the inner CV did not have the sheetmetal cap, so it was flinging grease out from between the stub axle flange and the CV. WTF is wrong with people that they can put something together like that?
on a happier note, i'm going to hit all three detroit-area Parts Galores tomorrow!
