A LONG TIME AGO, I was driving my Healey 100-6 down 301 and a 930 came up on me at a moderate pace. I was in love.
I tucked behind him and flashed my lights at him. He nailed it and disappeared almost instantly , leaving me laughing with delight.
That is a treasured memory. I hope he didn't think I wanted to race.
Many years later, I had a 930. Nobody ever did that to me.
In the world of off road vehicles it is a little different.
Sitting in a parking lot in my wife's hummer H2. Guy is a customized Jeep Wrangler suv thing pulls up next to me and is acting all my hopped up jeep is better than you H2. He has some bigger tires the top is off the roll bar is padded and there are lights on the brush bar.
Two very attractive mid 20 something girls come walking by in front of us and the first on points at the jeep and said something to the other girl. The other girl said loud enough for me to hear. "Awwww that jeep is so small and cute". I watched jeep boys ego shrink down to where he was all but hiding behind the steering wheel. I just started chuckling. I looked over and said some times size does matter. Jeep boy drove off and I finished my coffee. Thinking about it I think jeep boy saw the lady's walking that way and was trying to impress. Kind of backfired.

I've gone places in my truck worse than most Jeep's will ever see. I used to do silly things in the Jeep too. I drove H2s in the Navy and I hate the military version so I will likely never drive the civilian ones. In the Navy I liked the ancient square body Chevy 4WD trucks better.
Friend's brother is a huge E36 M3 head in a lifted dodge pickup and challenger. Always talks about which Porsche, mustang, Vette, etc. he "smoked" today. That's your guy.
I used to have that problem in the Jeep, especially when the exhaust on it used to be louder. Pretty much anything vaguely muscle car like would want to race, and plenty of Subaru bros and a few ricers had to prove a point as well. Every once in a while the situation would be one where I was willing to open it up and see what happened, and while they usually figured out the Jeep wasn't that fast, a few times they were a bit surprised (like a heavily riced Integra in full primer that really wanted to race on a 2 lane highway entrance and was a few lengths back by 70 when I lifted). Of course, that last guy stayed in it longer, proceeded to do the ricer flyby and drive like a dickhead for a minute, etc.
On the other hand, I've never gotten that reaction once in the BMW. Probably because it's damn near silent at anything less than WOT. The most I get driving that car is a few interested looks here and there from other drivers (in pretty much all types of vehicles).
