Looks like I might be making another run to the great white north. At least this one won't be in the middle of winter and I won't be driving this one home.
This time it's a real oddball. At least odder than the last one.
It's advertized as a 1970 Easy Rider. I have always thought tracked vehicles were cool, but never owned one. By Friday morning I might. A friend in MI is going to take a look at it for me and stick it in his barn until I can get up there to pick it up.
The video the current owner sent.
I've spent more money on stupider stuff, we will have to see where this leads...
Does the track work on the right side?
It's supposed to. We will find out for sure come Friday morning.

So I got a thing located in Southwest Ohio that I need brought down ... plus I think I already owe you a beverage for the AC thread.
Way, Way COOL. I wanna come play!
In reply to Stampie :
When're you planning on being in SW Ohio?
I'm sorry, you said odd vehicle? I don't see an odd vehicle anywhere, just pure awesomeness that would look fantastic with hot rod flames.
Is an LS swap an option? Hmmmm
Hmmmm, no more excuses for being late for work when it snows!
...and there is a Dodge Dakota convertible in the back ground....

No offense but I was hoping not to be. I was hoping Toyman could pick it up for me.
In reply to Stampie :
I can probably make that happen depending on size and timeline. I'm probably not running north before July.

It's a Miata steering column plus wheel and I think Evan would have it pulled by then but I'll ask him tomorrow.
I will give you a shout before I head that way.
I dug up some info on the beasty.
Here is an interesting piece of history.
Consolidated International, Inc., which built/imported these things, was started by a Russian guy named Sol Shenk in the late 60s.
It became Consolidates Stores and eventually Big Lots.
In the mid-70s, Sol Shenk bought Bricklin when they went out of business.
Sol Shenk is also who bought DeLorean when they went belly up in the 80s.
I'm wondering how it controls the individual track speeds so it can turn.
The internet tells me that $1,295 in 1970 is like $8.840 today
A simple ATV will run you easy $8k these days, so, about the same.
In reply to Floating Doc (Forum Supporter) :
At a guess, the handlebar controls the brakes on each track. Turn right and it brakes the right track. Turn left and it brakes the left track. The throttle is probably a thumb lever.

He really missed out by not offering Bricklins & DeLoreans on treads.
And the deal is done. All loaded up on a friend's trailer and headed to his barn.
It's bigger than I thought it was from the pictures.
I'm oogling the sweet aluminum trailer!
