I will probably be getting a fun car next year (mine will have to have 4 semi-usable seats but whatever) and this got me thinking, what is the most interesting car that you can get for around 10k dollars? I will have to think about this some but my gut reaction is maybe a Jaguar XJS V12 that has a T56 swap. There is one around here for sale but he wants 17k. I am sure that you could find one that someone swapped for 10-12k. Anyway, provide links if you can.

Since you say "interesting", I don't think you can top THIS.
It's on my list of "one day" cars.

I paid 8k for a mint, two owner 330i ZHP last month. It has 96k miles.
You can get a pretty good E36 M3 for that price, or build an XJ into a pretty good off-road machine. Both are fun and interesting.
Oh gees....How about a little mullet action:

Or on the other end a little hippie action:

I got a 12a powered MGB roadster for well under 3k shipped.
The FrankenFiat from a couple months ago was similar money.
My advice: Keep watching the forums here, most of us already post the interesting stuff.
Last time I checked you could buy deuce and a halfs off government liquidation sights for around $2k. Buy as many as you can fit in your yard.

I think if I had $10k and wanted an interesting DD, i'd go XJ Cherokee or FJ60/80 Land Cruiser.
What do you want to do with it? There are many nice cars from the 50s which fit in your budget. Something like this could be "interesting."

Foreign cars. Like a Lancia Delta Integrale or Skyline or something along those lines. You can have either of those for $10k. Even something like a late 70s Mexican Valiant Superbee would be great in this category though I don't know what those go for.
Hands down, first choice would be a 67 GTO convertible. For $10k I could wait for a 4-speed with any options I wanted and have it be in good driving condition.
Second choice would be a LLY/LBZ Duramax truck with a 6 speed manual.
Third choice would be a classic Caddy Hearse, anywhere from 62-76.

A convertible 67 gto 4speed for 10k? I will take one of those, they seem to start closer to 20k around here for a driver.
Biggest, oldest green station wagon from the big three (or Buick/Pontiac you know what I mean) with a big block. Then pocket $5k.

This question isn't specifically about me, I just wanted to see what others found interesting (Fun, unique, fast, etc...) within this price range.
I do like that Chieftain though

If you want to approach this as a DD question, go for it.

Now this is interesting!
That Nissan Pao is Awesome! I wonder what sourcing parts for that would be like however.
I forgot that they made the Saab 95 in wagon form or that the Hillman Imp was around.
