I have this sickness. You see, I can't junk anything. I have two rust-free parts cars that I can't bring myself to crush. I'm looking to you for inspired (an inexpensive) ideas...
Parts Car #1: 1983 BMW 320i (E21). I used it as an engine/transmission donor for my 1972 2002. The body is really very solid and the interior is awful.
Parts Car #2: 1977 VW Super Beetle Convertible. Through a series of trades, I ended up with a rust free, rolling shell with absolutely no parts on it whatsoever. It gave up its rack-and-pinion steering for my 1972 Super Beetle that I've had since I was a kid. I have enough rusty VW parts cars (much to my wife's chagrin) to build something out of it, but I'm not sure what...
Anybody have any cool ideas?

Plans for a mid engine V8 Bug chassis.
Enjoy.
since when do beetles have rack and pinion steering? I had a couple of 74 super and thought they used the same worm and roller as the standard beetle?
And where are you, I might take that E21 chassis off your hands.. love those early 3ers

1975-1979 Super Beetles have a rack and pinion steering that is vastly superior in terms of road feel and precision to the old worm and roller system.
The E21 is in Massachusetts at a friend's repair shop if you want to see it. It's cheap.

There ya go, its a perfect plan :)
For the BMW:
buy an E30 325i and use it as a drivetrain donor for the E21
then, buy a E36 and use it as a donor for the E30
Parts Car #1: In what I fear may become my standard answer, Bridgeported rotary.

Buy a 318ti and use the entire suspension in the E30
