95% of the problems I see at our transmission shop with Dodge trannys is the check valve and the heat exchanger. Both get plugged and fry things big time. My average retail repair for a 4L60E is around 1600-1800. Average for a 46RE is more like 2400.

Ditch the check ball, use an external cooler, and change the fluid/filter every 50 or 60k. The trannys aren't glass, but the associated parts (like the cooler and check ball) are glass and when they go, things get screwed big time.

Its possible that its just the demographic down here in TX but I see far more Dodge trannys than I do Ford. We get plenty of 5R55s in Explorers, but rarely get 4R70s or 4R100s. I probably do 3 Dodge trucks a week. (including Jeeps)
