FWIW we are already going 420,000 MPH 100% free give or take a couple thousand:

I did not need to read this.....I had convinced myself not to think about LSR this year and focus on some other goals. Now I am fighting the fever.

I need a transmission, shifter, driveshaft, wheels, tires, helmet, suit and belts before I can do it. We are about 65-70% of the way through our Camaro build. Engine should make decent power, rear is 95%, cage done, pedal mounts done, front suspension done....ah crap I gotta stop thinking about this....

Besides a Busa, if I had to pick a street car to start with, it would be a 1GB DSM AWD. Built 2.0 no strokers, Shepherd transmission. About 600hp got a GVR4 in to the 200 mph + club and that's totally doable with staying 2.0L on 4g.

That sounds like a winner to me. In reply to crankwalk:

According to MR. Peabody's Way Back Machine........ a Ford 289 making about 400hp in a 1953 Studebaker will do the job. that would also be my choice of car body's but more engine.

I once did 620 mph on a trans-Atlantic flight with a favorable jet stream west to east. The flight was really early considering it usually did about 560 mph.

Confirmed, a plane seems like the simple answer here:

200mph? How cheaply can one build a trebuchet?

In reply to calteg: I built a 7 foot tall Murlin trebuchet for under $120. It flings tennis balls a 150 feet or so. I doubt it hits 200mph though.

Ebay link

Buy this, have APR remove the governor, according to JC it should get you to "a smooth and entirely drama free 202 mph".
