Just remembered: I got a beautiful (pretty rare) Dana 44 rear out of an XJ to swap into mine (after an $86 minispool) for the price of a Dana 35: $100.00!

They're going for several times that if the yard knows what the are.

Crack-free E30 dash for $40, most of an E23 euro 745i Turbo for about $100 (I made a solid $1200 on that one) E36 steering racks for E30s for $20 a pop multiple times, all the 9C1 goodies off a 90k mile ex cop car to make my wagon nicer. Otherwise, not a ton. All the local yards seem to get hit pretty hard here, so unless you're there all the time, the really good stuff goes out the door pretty quick.

1st gen integra ecu and injectors for 1g crx. Waynimal picked up a supercharger for like $20, because the lady behind the counter didn't know what it was, so he half-jokingly said "Air compressor."

We were also grabbing cars for $90 from the towing yard back in the day. Scored the General Tso, the Boss Hong, a 3rd gen civic hatch, and a couple other TD's at that price.

That's incredible. Why don't people like that work at the junkyards near me?

To the OP: I have that same exact radio in my Dakota. I had it in my old WRX. I love it, minus the fact that the CD player quit a year ago.

Best junkyard score/upgrade has to be the heads on my Trans Am. I scored Pontiac 1971 vintage #96 heads from a GTO at a local yard a few years back. These are great heads that flow well, have the desirable big valves, and give a 455 a magic compression ration perfect for making big power on pump gas. I scored them from the yard owner's "personal collection". I paid $90. At the time they were going for $300+ as bare cores. I have them on my 400, but if I ever come across an affordable 455 block, I know they will be even better suited for that.

I found a complete manual trans pedal cluster for my 78 Firebird in an 80/81 Firebird at the pick and pull. The funny thing was that the car I took it out of was a factory manual car that was converted to automatic, I just happened to look under the dash and notice the three pedals. Now I'm going to use it to convert my factory automatic car to manual!

I also got a factory "Formula" steering wheel and adapter, a gauge cluster with a tach, some seat belts that actually retract and a few other things I'm forgetting from that car.

I bought a JY 2.0 ABA block for my 86 GTI. The stock 1.8 head bolted on for an excellent "hybrid" motor. Went from stock 90hp/80ft lbs to the wheels to 116hp/120ft lbs to the wheels.

That motor got swapped to 3 different cars. Love me some SOHC goodness.

Corolla S steering wheel into my 91 MR2

Looks much better, much more modern than the 4 point that came in the cars originally. And not expensive by doing the leg-work yourself
